On November 21, 2024, participants in the 23rd International Symposium on Advanced Technology (ISAT-23) visited the Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (BIOMECH). The visitors were comprised of students and faculty members from the Kogakuin University of Technology and Engineering (Japan) and Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST).
The brief tour highlighted various agri-fishery machinery developed by BIOMECH, including the Powder Processing System, Ronnie Baugh (formerly Oggun II) Tractor and its implements, UPLB Hand Tractor, Corn Seeder, Corn Sheller, Corn Mill, and Upland Weeder. Participants were also given the chance to experience some of the technologies firsthand.
The tour offered an opportunity to exchange ideas, build collaborations, and advocate for innovative solutions to challenges in agriculture and fisheries among the ISAT-23 participants. In working towards the Net Zero goal, UPLB BIOMECH remains dedicated to promoting sustainable agricultural mechanization by creating efficient and eco-friendly practices in agriculture and fisheries.
This event has been made possible by the University of the Philippines (UPLB), through the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology (CEAT), which hosted the ISAT-23 with the theme, Engineering Innovations for Net Zero: Advancing Low Carbon Strategies, from Nov. 21-22, 2024, at the UPLB Campus, Los Baños, Laguna.
