On February 22, 2024, a significant milestone was achieved as the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signing ceremony took place at the Executive Conference Room, Office of the Chancellor, UPLB. Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. and President Cherry I. Ultra signed on behalf of UPLB and UEP, respectively, with witnesses from both UPLB and UEP.
Among the distinguished witnesses was Dr. Ronel S. Pangan, the Director of the UPLB Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (BIOMECH). Dr. Pangan has been a key contributor to this collaboration through his involvement in a project with DOST PCAARRD, specifically the “Compendium of Agricultural and Fisheries Technologies in the Philippines.” This initiative involves his team traversing the Philippines to collect data on agricultural technologies from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) while simultaneously establishing Memoranda of Understanding with these institutions.
The collaboration extends beyond the University of Eastern Philippines, as more partnerships are anticipated through scheduled signings and consultations with other institutions. The ongoing compendium project maintains its commitment to continuously open doors for valuable partnerships with various HEIs throughout the course of its implementation.
