The University of the Philippines Los Baños’ Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (UPLB BIOMECH) recently held a meeting with the Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI). The meeting, led by UPLB BIOMECH’s Engr. Marck Ferdie Eusebio and attended by DOST-PTRI’s Science Research Specialist II, Engr. Ephraim de Gracia, focused on the details of the ongoing Compendium of Agricultural Technologies in the Philippines project.

This compendium project aims to compile and document a comprehensive collection of agricultural technologies developed by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Research and Development Institutes (RDIs), and local manufacturers across the Philippines. The compendium is a valuable resource that will serve as a reference for stakeholders in the agricultural sector, including researchers, policymakers, farmers, and industry professionals.

During the meeting, the teams discussed various aspects of the project, including the scope of the technologies to be included, the methodologies for data collection, and the criteria for technology selection. The inclusion of an online database was also discussed, with both parties agreeing that it would greatly enhance the accessibility and usability of the compendium. This database will allow users to easily search for and retrieve information on specific technologies, making it a tool for advancing agricultural innovation in the country.

Engr. Marck Ferdie Eusebio, leading the UPLB BIOMECH team, stated that the compendium would not only showcase the technological innovations developed in the country but also provide a platform for the dissemination and adoption of these technologies by the broader agricultural community.

As the project progresses, the UPLB BIOMECH team will continue to work closely with various HEIs, SUCs, RDIs, and local manufacturers to ensure that the compendium accurately reflects the agricultural technologies available in the Philippines. The team is committed to delivering a comprehensive and user-friendly resource that will support the country’s efforts towards agricultural modernization.
