On February 8, 2024, Engr. Marck Ferdie V. Eusebio, University Research Specialist I, led the UPLB-BIOMECH team on a visit to Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan in Cagayan de Oro City. The purpose of the visit was to engage in discussions regarding the ongoing UPLB-BIOMECH project with DOST PCAARRD, Compendium of Developed Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Technologies in the Philippines.

Accompanying Engr. Eusebio was Engr. Yara Ayman A. El Adawi, Project Technical Assistant III. The team was also joined by Xavier University’s Dean of the College of Agriculture, Maria Rosario Mosqueda, and MFAD Director, Mark Alexis Sabines.

During the meeting, the team outlined the objectives of the project, which aims to gather and publish developed agricultural and fisheries technologies from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)/State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Research and Development Institutes (RDIs), and local manufacturers. Additionally, an online database will be established to facilitate the continuous dissemination of updated information on developed agricultural and fisheries technologies across different regions in the Philippines.

The project also aims to minimize duplication of technologies, resulting in resource savings, and serves as a platform for fostering future collaborations between HEIs/SUCs, RDIs, and local manufacturers to enhance existing technologies.

Lastly, the team engaged in discussions regarding the recently concluded National HEI Consultative Meeting in Angeles Pampanga, encouraging Xavier University to contribute to the researchable areas that align with their preferences, fostering collaboration with other HEIs and funding agencies.
