The UPLB Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (UPLB-BIOMECH) visits the Capiz State University (CAPSU) – Pontevedra Campus on November 15, 2023 to discuss the DOST-PCAARRD-funded project “Compendium of Developed Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Technologies in the Philippines” in support of the AFMech Law of 2013.

The upcoming activities of AFMechRDE Network and the projects were discussed by project staff Engr. Marck Ferdie Eusebio and project technical assistant, Engr. Ezra Ryza Noel. The vital role of universities with locally developed agricultural and fisheries mechanization technologies in the development of a compendium that will help researchers, interested end-users, and developers across the country were emphasized during the discourse.

The team was welcomed by the CAPSU – Pontevedra Campus’ BS ABE Program Coordinator, Engr. Francis Belle Lampong, together with the Department of ABE Program Faculty, Engr. Abelardo Bermejo, Engr. Sandra Balsote, Engr. Catherine Arroyo, Engr. Kenny John Ballera, Engr. Bonifacio Hontiveros, and Engr. Marty Delfin. Mr. Robert Christian Patani of the BS Fisheries Program also joined the discussion and provided key insights that ensured the ease of the project implementation.

Throughout the conversations, emphasis was placed on the significance of enhancing cooperation among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Research and Development Institutions (RDIs), and Private Institutions. The success of the project will contribute to the increase in productivity of the agri-fisheries sector and streamline the efficiency of agri-fisheries production activities.
