On November 22, 2023, a team from UPLB-BIOMECH went to the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU). They discussed the project – Compendium of Developed Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Technologies in the Philippines. This project, funded by DOST-PCAARRD, aims to gather and share information on farm and fishery machinery technologies in the Philippines.

UPLB-BIOMECH is working on this project and visiting universities all over the Philippines. They are focusing on universities and colleges that play an important role in developing technology for agriculture and fisheries.

At DMMMSU, BIOMECH Project Team, Engr. John Paul Tobias and Engr. Yara Ayman El Adawi had discussions with Paul James Gañola (Director, Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering), Hippolito C. Buccat (Faculty, BS ABE Program), and Fatima R. Macadaeg (Faculty, BS ABE Program). The team discussed the Compendium Project, which collects information on agricultural technologies made by universities, research institutes, and local companies. The goal is to showcase these inventions, avoid technology duplications to save cost, and help improve existing technologies for agricultural advancements.

The project plans to create an online database that will be regularly updated with new technologies, especially those that are almost ready for use. DMMMSU will contribute its patented technologies for review.

The team also discussed the HEI consultative meeting for universities involved in agricultural machinery. The meeting will focus on new research areas HEIs will engage in and working together on projects with other HEIs.
