The UPLB Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (UPLB-BIOMECH) took part in the Inception meeting conducted on August 18, 2023 of the DOST-PCAARRD-funded project entitled “Compendium of Developed Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Technologies in the Philippines”.
The UPLB-BIOMECH hosted the event as the project’s implementing agency. Dr. Ronel S. Pangan, Project Leader and Director, led the BIOMECH Project Team together with the Project Staff: Dr. Maria Victoria Larona, Engr. Marck Ferdie Eusebio and Engr. Ronnie Valencia, Project Technical Assistants: Engr. Ezra Ryza Noel and Engr. John Paul Tobias, and Project Administrative staff, Ms. Marliz Espina. Representatives of the UPLB Accounting Office, Mr. Ezekiel Q. Sapin and Ms. Winona M. Larios were also present during the said meeting.
The DOST-PCAARRD, as the funding and monitoring agency of the project, was participated by Agricultural Resources Management Research Division (ARMRD) led by Ms. Adoracion B. Armada, Officer-in-Charge, Ms. Maria Teresa L. De Guzman, Supervising Science Research Specialist (SRS), Engr. Kathleen Faith Jay O. Villarma, SRS II, and Engr. Eman Noel G. Cañada, SRS II, together with their Accounting Section staff Ms. Alyssa P. de Mesa and Ms. Kristel Jane T. Martin. Also virtually present are Ms. Mae A. Dagaas and Ms. Kariza M. Geminiano of their Technology Transfer and Promotion Division, and Ms. Jobelle Mae L. Zuraek of their Applied Communication Division.
As the lead coordinator of RDE activities of all HEIs/SUCs, the UPLB-BIOMECH continues to promote the adoption of agri-fisheries mechanization technologies for increased productivity of the agri-fisheries sector of the country through partnerships and collaborations in support of the AFMech Law.
This project will ultimately strengthen linkages between member institutions of the Agricultural and Fisheries Research, Development, and Extension Network (AFMechRDEN) and improve efficiency in agri-fisheries production/post-production activities.
