On November 22, 2023, the University of the Philippines Los Baños-Center for Agri-fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (UPLB-BIOMECH) visited the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the specifics of the DOST-PCAAARD-funded project titled “Compendium of Developed Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Technologies in the Philippines” and to engage in conversations about the upcoming Higher Education Institution Consultative Meeting.

As part of the AFMech RDE Network, UPLB-BIOMECH initiated an extensive series of visits to universities and colleges across the Philippines. The primary goal is to establish connections with academic institutions, promote collaboration, and gather information on the mechanization of agri-fisheries technologies in use.

The discussion was led by Engr. Yara Ayman El Adawi and Engr. John Paul Tobias, both serving as Project Technical Assistant III. The participants included Dr. Armando D. Diga, Dean of the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Engineering, along with faculty members Engr. Jhun A. Cabebe, Engr. Nessamy T. Valmoria, Engr. Cammile F. Manlapig, and Engr. Emelyn G. Mesina from the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.

Throughout the conversation, the Compendium Project was introduced as a comprehensive catalog showcasing developed agri-fisheries technologies. It includes detailed information on these technologies, aiming to assist Higher Education Institutions/State Universities and Colleges (HEI’s/SUC’s) in promoting the commercialization of their technologies.
